Unbxd PIM Nomenclature

Before you start exploring the Unbxd PIM, familiarize yourself with some simple terminologies.

Import

Import is the process of integrating your product content into Unbxd PIM. You can use the following file formats to initiate your import:

  • .CSV
  • .XLS
  • .JSON
  • .XML
Member

An individual assigned to manage or perform PIM related activities in an organization.

Role

Role defines the nature of an individual’s PIM responsibilities in an organization. For example, a member, Sarah Dave works on editing and updating product descriptions, has the role “Writer”.

Property

Properties are characteristics that define a product. For example, Product Name, Brand, Size etc. Properties can also include digital assets (product images) of the product. Each product can have multiple properties.

Property Group

A property group is a set of related properties. While viewing the product details page of a product, the grouped properties are easily accessible and readable. For example, “Technical Details” is a property group with the following properties:

  • OS
  • RAM
  • Item Weight
  • Product Dimensions
  • Battery Power
Category

A category is a product classification that identify a product. A subcategory is a category that is grouped at different hierarchy levels in another category.

Asset

An asset is an image file (for example, .JPEG, .PNG, .GIF etc) that displays the visual characteristics of a product.

Products

Products consists of products with no variants (solo products), parent products, and variant products. Post a product import, the Products Listing page displays all the products. The default view will display solo products and variant products.

Solo product

A product with no variants.

Parent product

Once you add variants to a solo product, the product becomes a parent product and is linked to the newly associated variant products. For example, the common properties of a shoe would be:

  • Product Name – Jordan Zoom
  • Product Brand – Hikee
  • Product Type – Shoe
Variant product

A variant product shares common properties with its parent and every variant product is linked to its parent product.

For example, the variant properties of the shoe mentioned above would be:

  • Variant 1:
Color – Blue, Size: US 8, Style – Sports
  • Variant 2:
Color – Red, Size: US 8, Style – Sports
  • Variant 3:
Color – Teal, Size: US 9, Style – Casual
Certify products to network

Once your organization believes that the products are accurate and complete with respect to its information, it is considered ready and is certified for network.

You can either certify random products or product labels (grouping the products into meaningful sets) to the network.

Product Groups

You can group the products for easy accessibility and to perform actions based on specific products.

Static product group

A static product group lets you manually group products. You can add or remove products from this group anytime.

Dynamic product group

A dynamic product group lets you define the filter conditions to group the products. In a dynamic product group, products are automatically added or removed based on the filter conditions.

Catalogs

Catalogs allow you to share specific set of product and their details through a published link.

Tasks

Tasks are activities assigned to members for ensuring complete and accurate product information.

Task Templates

You can use task templates to instantly create tasks. It avoids the repetitive process of selecting same properties and members/roles every time you create a task.

Network

Network will ensure exchange of the product information to different stakeholders in specified formats.

Products

Products under network are certified products.

Product Labels

Product labels are a logically arranged set of certified products.

Partners

Partners are business entities to whom you can send complete and up-to-date product information from Unbxd PIM.

Adapters

Adapters allow you to map your properties to System and Custom adapter properties before exporting the product for distribution.

Exports

You can send product information to stakeholders in .CSV, .XLS, .JSON, and .XML format.

Workflow

Workflow allows you to automate your PIM processes. For example, a standard day-to-day process can include importing product data, updating product properties, and exporting the latest data with different stakeholders.

Node

A node is a PIM component that can be configured to automatically perform a PIM action or requires manual intervention for its completion. Nodes are used to define the workflow steps.

Channels

Channels are apps integrated with Unbxd PIM for PIM related data transfer and processing. For example, BigCommerce.
