An import adapter lets you save property mapping and configurations that was required for a specific type of import. Once you have the adapter saved, you can always reuse the existing configurations and upload your data real quick, saving a lot of time and hence reducing the time-to-onboard of products for further processing.
The import adapter consists mapping details of the important PIM properties. The important PIM properties include Product Id, Product Name, Product Image, Parent Id, and Category. The adapter also saves all configurations that pertain to data transformations. You can write scripts to drive those data transformations. For example, you can use the values of the property “Brand” and add it before the values of the property “Product Name”. Or, you can create a new custom column called “Product Title” and show the values of both “Brand” and “Product Name”
The import adapters are created after the pre-import phase. And for the subsequent imports, they are available for selection.
